Cancel Claude Pro and
get the money back.
Anthropic lets you cancel Claude Pro or Max any time from billing settings β access continues until the end of the cycle. There is no public refund policy, but support routinely grants partial or full refunds when the request comes within ~14 days, usage is low, or a Max plan was accidentally upgraded.
Step 1 β Cancel Claude Pro
- Sign in at claude.ai and open Settings β Billing.
- Click 'Manage subscription' β 'Cancel plan'.
- Confirm β you keep Pro/Max access until the period ends.
- Save the email confirmation; you'll cite the cancel date in any refund email.
Step 2 β Request the refund
- Email support@anthropic.com (or use the in-app help widget) within 14 days of the charge.
- Subject line: 'Refund request β Claude Pro/Max β [date]'. Include account email, last 4 of card, charge amount and date.
- Reason that works best: 'cancelled within X days, did not use Projects / Max features after the charge.'
- If support pushes back, escalate to your card issuer using a billing dispute (Visa code 13.2 / Mastercard 4853).

What the policy actually says
- No public refund window β outcome depends on cycle usage and accidental Max-upgrade context.
- Mention 'cancelled within 14 days' if true; Anthropic mirrors industry 14-day norms even though it isn't published.
- Annual plan refunds are usually prorated, not full.
- If you upgraded Pro β Max by accident, refund odds jump to 'High' β Anthropic explicitly handles upgrade mistakes.
Claude Pro refund FAQ
Can I get a Claude Pro refund after using it?
Yes, often partially. Heavy usage drops the chance of a full refund, but accidental renewals and upgrades within ~14 days are usually approved.
How do I cancel Claude Max?
Same flow as Pro β Settings β Billing β Manage subscription. You'll keep Max access until the end of the cycle; cancel does not refund automatically.
Is Anthropic's billing handled by Stripe?
Yes. Refunds settle back to the original card via Stripe in 5β10 business days. The descriptor on your statement reads 'ANTHROPIC' or 'CLAUDE.AI'.
